Thanks for reading

It’s the end of the year and as much as I’d like to find something interesting or profound to say I can’t.  As I type this I’m sitting in the doorway to Belle’s room while she is going down for a nap.  Since we’re on Christmas break we decided to get her out of our bed and into her own; things are going well.  Right now she is singing to herself rather than screaming “DADDY I NEED YOU!” for an hour.  Pretty soon I expect I won’t have to sit in her doorway and she’ll just go to sleep.

I just wanted to put up a post here to thank all of you who read for reading.  I know a few of you read this blog and comment and I know there are some of you who don’t comment.  I generally just do this blog to get out some creative energy (such as mine is) and offer my thoughts on a few things.  I appreciate any time any of you spend reading this and I especially appreciate any time you contribute by commenting or e-mailing me.

If you read this blog I’d love to hear from you via e-mail or a comment or something so I know better who is actually reading.  And if you have any particular thing you’d like me to post about or something feel free to offer suggestions.  Lots of times I just don’t know what to write about.

So thanks for reading this year, I hope next year is better, and I hope you have a safe and happy New Years’ Eve.

Windows Live Writer

I'm a sucker for new programs even if they aren't particularly useful.  Windows Live Writer seems nifty.  It's a program you put on your desktop that you can use to write blog posts and upload them without having to connect to a particular website, etc.  It's WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get" for you non-nerdy) and makes it pretty easy to edit and publish posts from what I can tell.  Blogger has its own fairly useful post-writing tool but I guess this is cool too.  I'm sure there are all sorts of features I know nothing about.  My biggest problem with this program is that it's a bit harder to do the picture thing than with Blogger, and the difficult of entering tags/labels for the posts.  This post is sort of a dry run.

One feature I find pretty awesome is the "Insert Map" option.  I can plug in an address and get a nifty satellite view of a place.  It's not especially useful but it is neato.  For example, let's say I want to describe the building I had most of my classes at when I was at CSU Hayward.  I could talk about it and then show you this picture.  I'm not sure why I would ever whant to describe it, or why this picture would be particularly useful...but it's things like this that make people like me happy.

Anyway, we'll see if this is actually useful or something I stick with.  But for now it's fun enough to keep my attention.

labels

Okay I discovered that Blogger made it a little easier to label posts than I expected. When you are tasked with labeling the category of things you post you realize how inane much of it is. Anyway I added some labels to some of my stuff. How helpful it is, who knows. I just know I like that I can.
